THE WEATHER.
SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications arc for strong east to south-easterly winds, with cold and. unsettled weather. Much rain probable in the North Island, and north-eastern districts of the South Island, with Enow ' on higher levels. The barometer is unsteady, hut is likely to rise everywhere, shortly. Stron;; northerly and westerly winds have prevailed, and rain fell during tho night in many parts of the country, but except northward of Auckland improved conditions were in evidence to-day. Barometric pressure has increased over tho South Island, but has decreased in tho northernmost districts, where a cyclonic area is apparently developing. D. 0. BATES. Jfasterton, June 19—A mild, spring-lilie day.
