MIRAMAR COUNCIL.
The fortnightly meeting of tho Mira-. mar Borough Council was held in tho local chambers last evening. The following wero present: The Mayor (Mr. F. Townsend), and' Councillors Telford, Bell, Stone, Smith, Underwood, and TTacey. A letter was received from Mr. P. B. Duppy asking if the 7.26 a.m. car could leave five minutes earlier. The matter was referred to the Tramways? Committee. The engineer reported upon the proposed formation of a track up tho north side of the Sentoun tunnel. The estimated cost was X 8 los. It was decided not to form tho track. A deputation waited upon tlio council representing the Miramar Fire Brigade and Brass Bond. They asked tho council to reduce tho rent of the hall. At pvesent they paid XI Is. per night, but as they could get a hall outside the borough for 12s. Gd. they thought that being ratepayers, they should get their own hall for less than XI Is. Tho council decided to have the matter reported upon. Councillor Telford moved: "That residents' concession tram tickets be made tiansferable on and after July 1." After a general discussion in which most of tho councillors spoko in favour of the motion the council went into committee.
