(Before Mr. W. 6. Riddell, S.M.) j ONE OF THE HOMELESS. Mr.- W. G. Biddell, S.M., presided at yesterday's sitting of the Magistrate's Court. Frederick Lyness, an old man, pleaded guilty to a 'charge of being a rogue ana a vagabond. Inspector Headry stated that the accused had been found at night in a washliouso on the premises of Archbishop Redwood. Ho was then in a shocking state of health, this bein" brought about by excessive drinking. lie understood that Archbishop Redwood had no desiro to proceed im the case, and also did not wish the accused to bo convicted. Tho man hod been an inmate of tho Ohiro Homo, and the manager of tho homo was willing to take him back again. Accusod having intimated that ho would go to the homo and stop there, his Worship entered a conviction and ordered him to como up for senteince when called upon. OTHER POLICE CASES. On a charge of assaulting and robbing William Boresford of 17s. Gd., William Albert Murray was remanded until Wednesday, June 25. • Joseph M'Laughlin, who appeared on romand on a charge of insobriety, was convicted and ordered to pay medical, expenses amounting to 17s. Fuller and Sons, was concluded yesterday. Plaintiffs contended that they woro entitled to 5 por cent, on tlio sale of one typo of chair, and 10 per cent, in respect of an alternative type. On tlio other hand defondniits held that plaintiff was not entitled to more than L'l per rent, commission. Defendants admitted liability for J330 Ms. 7d., and counter-claimed for X'4B 13s. 3d., for goods supplied. In rcspect to tlio latter sum, plaintiffs admitted liability for M 2 15s. 2d., but disputed the balance. Mr. T. C. A. Hislop apprarod for the plaintiffs, and Mr. 11. Buddlo for the defendants.
