Mr. Justice Sim said ho would hear argument on this point in tho usual eourso later. lie mentioned that tliero would liavo to bo strong reasons why the Court should mot make an award in tho faoo of agreements entered into elsewhere, • , r In liis preliminary statements, Mr. Pirani said that tho question' of preference was of tho utmost importance. Mr Justice Sim said that it had been conceded in tho Diuiedjn ngreement. Tho hearing of the journalists disputo lasted all through the day until late in the evening, witnesses coming froni Uimcriin and Wellington, as well as Cliristchurcli. Tho employers objected strongly to preference to unionists, and to limitation of hours. . The Court eventually adjourned in order tlint a confei-enco might bo held between the parties with a view to coming to an agreement.
