JACK JOHNSON HISSED
Chicago, May 8. Tho chango in the pugilist Jack Johnson's fortunes was illustrated to-day, when a crowd at tho Union Pacific Hailroad Station hissed him as he passed through en route to the court for the adjourned heoring of the charge against him under tho "White Slavery" Laws. The, black fighter was dressed in a modest suit of blue, without the profusion of diamonds ho wore when tho ease began, somebody evidently having given him a hint that such a display was inadvisable in tho circumstances. At the beginning of to-day's hearing the proprietress of a resort at Pittsburg testified her dismissal of Belle Schreiber —a white slnvo—in' the present, ease from her house. The Government had hoped to show that this action was due to Schreiber's association with Johnson; but the Court sustained an objection of tho defence to this line of examination. Belle Schreibor, a slight and rather pretty brunette, testified that she first met the accused when she was ail inmate of ono of the most notorious resorts in Chicago, The Government Attorney attempted to secure details, but the Judge ruled that inasmuch as the witness's relations with Johnson were admitted ho would refrain from polluting tho ears of tho jury with a recital of them,
