PRISONER HANGS HIMSELF.

WHILE AWAITING TRIAL. (By Telegraph.—l'ress Association.> Auckland) Juno 19. Austin Vinocnt Carrol), aged thirty, who was remanded on a charge of indecent assault 011 a little girl, committed suicide in a cell at Mount last night. Flo was found dead at 7 this morning. He had apparently used a towel, tied to tho bars of tho window, to strangle himself. He leaves a widow and two children. At the inquest, evidence allowed that :i letter from deceased to his wife was found under his pillow. In the letter deceased lamented tho fiict that iie was afraid his wife and- family would be short of monov. He also said ho could not bear the suspense of waiting in gaol for trial, although he was being treated with everv consideration by the warders. •Mr. Cutten, S.M., returned the following verdict: "Deceased died last night, and ho hanged himself."
