SMALLPOX SCARE PRESENTED,

Auckland, June 17. Onehunga people aro smarting under a sense of injustice. The smaJlpox scare has quite blown over, but Onehunga residents are not satisfied. Tradespeople whose business places were anywherenear the tabooed area suffered a alutnp. Those shops doing business, the borough boundaries in adjacent districts complain of loss of trade. In more than one instance eases have been reported m which travellers for Onehunga grocery,..shops, touring tor-orders, were.tohl not rto-call again, pending a definito pronouncement regarding the smallpox 6care. The matter was discussed by tho Onehunga adult school at a meeting yesterday morning, ajad the following resolution was unanimously adopted: "That tho attention of the Borough Council be called to the incalculable injury done to. Onehunsa by a premature report of'an outbreak oi smallpox in our town." It was further, carried: ''That we further suggest that the Borough Council Should call a public meeting to express its senso of the unnecessary injury done to Onehunga through the recent reports of smallpox by the Public Health Department and tho press, especially as such reports havo proved to be a false alarm." Both resolutions will bo forwarded to .the council at its meeting % next Monday night.
