The Federal Ministers «ro reported as having given up hope of Labour capturing tho Hume seat, and that they are ready to vacate ollice next Thursday. Four Ministers separately interviewed tho Governor-General (Lord Dcnman). Though it is given out that 110 political significance is attached to theso visits, it is confidently believed they were farewell visits. It, is expected Mr. Fisher will tender his rosignation to-day, and advise Lord Denmnn to send for Mr. Cook, the Leader of tho Opposition. LIBERAL GAINING AT HUME. .OVER 2000 UNCOUNTED. Sydney, June 16. Onlyi seven hundred votes were counted yesterday all Hume, leaving the Liberal candidate) (Mr. Robert Patten) 490 ahead. There are 2200 votes still uncounted. Sir William Lyne, the Labour candidate, gained nineteen. RECOUNT ORDERED FOR ILLAWARRA. Melbourne, June 17. A recount has been ordered at Iliawarra, where the Labourito candidate's (Mr. Burns) majority is 122. ELECTORAL LAW CONDEMNED. AMENDMENT DEMANDED. (Rec. Juno 17, 10.40 p.m.) Sydney, June 17. As tho outcome of tho delay in completing tho returns, and of tho alleged irregularities during tho election, the newspapers in all the States are stridently demanding an overhaul and amendment of the Electoral Law in Australia.
