AUCKLAND EXHIBITION.

FEW PROVINCIAL COURTS. (By Telegraph—Special Correspondent.) Auckland, Juno 16. The Exhibition Executive has suffered disappointment over the fact that only two provincial courts, and a doubtful third, will bo in tho Exhibition. The Fijian Government is providing a large display. The position regarding the provincial. courts is rather extraordinary, for the executive has had many reports from local executives leading it to believe ■that a fairly largo number of district displays would bo made. It is singular that the two districts that are to be represented are at the ends of the Dominion—North Auckland and Southland. Southland was considered a doubtful exhibitor in view of tho hardships experienced in the district recently through the floods. Doubt was, in fact, plainly expressed in Southland messages as to whether the court could be gone on with in view of the losses sustained, but a little later the Exhibition Executive received an order for 3000 square feet of space. .Though applications for space have now closed thero is still afoot an endeavour to securo a display representative of the Wnikato district. The following dates have been suggested by the Sports Sub-committee for the various sports contests:—Tug-of-war— Evenings between Christmas and New Year. Athletic carnival, New Zealand championships, and pipe band contestsJanuary 19 and 21, in tho evenings and on tho afternoon of January 21. Axemen's carnival—About the lost week in February.
