AN HISTORIC PAGEANT.

o . INTERESTING PROJECT AFOOT. For somo time past Mr. George Troup, president of tho Wellington Boys' Institute, has been quietly at work in connection with a big which is, it is hoped, going to largely augment the building and Institute's maintenance fund. Tho Boys' Institute has, over since its inception, taken up a lot of his time, and through his indefatigiblo energy and enthusiasm has since become an institution deserving of everyone's support. Some three years ago Mr. and Mrs. Troup visited Edinburgh, and thero witnessed a wonderfully fine historical pageant, which, by means of appropriately'oostumed and arranged groups of performers, traced the history of England from Saxon days down to those of the late King Edward. "It was really wonderfully arranged,' raid Mr. Troup. "The costumes wore identical of the period in each case, and where outstanding historical events were pictured, you oouid pick out each figure quite easily. They were there just where you would imagine they should be." Thinking 'over ways and means of "raising the wind" for the Institute, Mr. Troup hit upon tho idea of a historical pageant on scale never before attempted m New Zealand, and very quietly ho lias been enlisting the aid of people most likely to help him. He has already secured (promises from about fifty people willing to form groups, and many more are expected to offer. Not only will these be drawn from Wellington, but it is anticipated that several of the provincial towns will be represented by groups. The pageant will_ bo held 'at Newtown Park on October 25 and 27.
