MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
(Before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.) CHARGES AGAINST A CLERK. OVER .£SOO INVOLVED. In the Magistrate's Court yesterday, Athol Ambrose M'Caul was charged with theft of moneys from the firm of Gollin and Co., in whose employ he held the position of clerk. There was a charge of theft of JE573 Is. lid., and two alternative charges involving sums of ,£42 19s. 4d. and .£ls 12s. Gd., tho dates of the alleged offences being July 16 and 25, 1012, and August 13, 1912. Chief Detective Broberg, who appeared for the police, obtained a remand until Wednesday, Juno 25. Accused was admitted to bail in tho sum of .£l5O and ono surety of "TWO-HP." William James Bonham was fined .£l, in default seven days' imprisonment, for having played: two-up on Waterloo Quay. . OTHER CASES. For insobriety, John King was fined 10s. ; and another offender was fined 'a like amount. David Morrison was fined £3 on a charge of indecency. Daniel Sullivan' and Andrew M'Gratli were each fined .£1 for having created a breach of the pe?ce. For disobedience of a. maintenance order James Hutton was sentenced to ono month's imprisonment.
