(By Taleimwh.—Prcsi Assooiation.i Napier, June 16. At tho Supreme Court to-day John Ellis Smith, charged with demanding money under a threat to discharge a revolver and for assault, was acquitted. George Watsoii Milne was convicted of opening a postal packet. and ordered to oomo up for sentence when called upon. Greymouth, Juno 16. At tho Supreme Court this afternoon William Henry Frank Pitt was found guilty of false pretences by representing himself as the agent of Murray, Roberts, and Company, obtaining wool valued at >£196. Sentence was deferred. George William Richards was sentenced to two years' imprisonment for an indecent assault on a boy. Hamilton, Juno 14. At tho Supremo Court George P. Baskerbello was acquitted on a. charge of assault on a gtirl of H years at lo Aroha. Judge Copper described tho verdict as an extraordinary one, and granted leave for appeal for a new trial. 1 Dunedin, Juno 16. At tho SupTemo Court this morning, John Allan, who had pleaded guilty in tho Lower Court to firing a revolver and causing actual bodily harm, was sentenced to sii week's imprisonment. Henry Roulston, on a charge of forging and uUcnng at Maheno, was admitted to probation for twelve months.
