Tho "News" states that tho Hon. W. Praser has telegraphed to Sir. George Hunter, M.P., stating that through stress of business the probabilities are that he will not bo able to visit Dannovirko until after tho session. „ ,„„. , Eight players of the Pahiatua Golf Club visited the Tahoraiti links on Wednesday, and tried conclusions with tho local club. Tho result was a win for Dannevirke by 5 to 2. Tho match between Cos and Druce was halved. ■ The bachelors and spinsters of_ 'Norsewood gave their annual ball in the Foresters' Hall on Wednesday evening. Mr. Hill's orchestra supplied tho music. Extras were played by Miss Jean Hahburton and Air. C. R. Anderson, Miss Jean Haliturton and Mr. F. Hulena were the secretaries. Mr. Duncan, of Takapau, sang, and Mr. ]?. Olsea mado a capablo M.C. There passed away at Dannevirke on Thursday, after a lengthy illness, an old and respected resident of tho district in tho person of Mrs. Duncan Guy, at the ripe age of 72 years. The deceased lady was tho mother of Mr. A. Guy, solicitor, of Palmerston North.
