A Nelson Wedding. The marriage took place at the Baptist Church, kelson, of Miss B. Calder, second daughter of Air. and Mrs. J. M. Calder, n » r • Joseph" L. Harris, also oi Aolsod. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of cashmK?ro de soi, trimmed with Maltese lace and pearls, and a veil fastened with a coronet of orange blossoms. Farewelling Dr. and Mrs. Couzens. On Thursday evening last a highly successful gathering was held in Fuliford's Hall, Brooklyn, by tho many friends of Dr. and Mrs. Couzens, who assembled to bid them farewell prior to their departure for England. Tho function took tho form of a concert and dance. Musical items were contributed by Mesdames D, Kennedy and A. Fortune (songs), Miss Malcolm (violin solo), and Messrs. W. Goudio, A. Fortune, and S. Rankin, (songs). Little Joyce Couzons delighted tho spectators with a number of pretty dances. During tho evening Mr. J. B. Hopkirk expressed in a brief speech tho regret felt by all at tho departure of Dr. and Mrs. Couzons, and tho esteem in ivliich they were held on account of their many good qualities. On behalf of those present, Mr. Itopkirk then presented Dr. Couzens with a travelling rug, and Sirs. Couzens with a gold bangle. Dancing was kept up until midnight, and tho evening terminated with the singing of "Auld Lang Sync."

Valuablo services in organising tlio function were rendered by a committee of Indies, consisting of Mesdames Bnrr, ITopkirk, Kennedy, Eggie, Hopkinson, Galbraith, Aulin, and Brown. Dance music was supplied by Mesdames Chapman, Malcolm and Fortune. Protection of Women, A meeting of tho Society for tlio Protection of Women and Children was held on Friday afternoon, Mrs. W. A. Evans (president) presiding. There were present: Lady Stout, Mesdames G. Ponsonby, A. Hoby. D. M'Laren, W. F. Ward, G. Winder, J. K. Glasson, C. It. Izard, and Miss Stewart. Repairs and renovations nro now being made and when the furnishing is complete this association hopes to supply tho bachelor girl not only with tho singl'o room sho seeks with facilities for getting her odd meals, but also with a common dining and sitting-room, bright with, the warmth of tho homo touch. In every possible way tho association is aiming at offering girls tho care that tho furnished room she has hitherto been able to find, has lacked. This now houso will mako it possible to spt apart rooms for girls from overseas on their arrival hero, and to provido more accommodation for transient boarders. It stands just opposite tiio l.\\.C.A. Not only aro they used for lioadgear, but sometimes they aro used for taking up a collection. They will not bo used for this purpose to-night, but a charge of one sliilhug will bo itiado to tho public for admission. This lecture is well known to bo both humorous and entertaining, and is being given in tho interests of tho Young Women's Christioa Association, A danco was given last evening by Cap* lain lTalsey and tho officers of H.M.S. New Zealand on the battleship. About 200 invitations had been issued and close upon that number had been accepted, Tho decorative scheme on board was extremoiy fine. This evening an "At Homo" is being held on board tho New Zealand, from 5.15 to 9 o'clock. -
