Tho public reading-room lias, through tho exertions of tho Library Committee, now been thoroughly renovated, and is now open to visitors. Miss Kummcll is custodian. Tho "Settlev" calls attention to tho dangerous nud unsatisfactory manner in which a portion of the road between Managaweka and Okingaiti has been left. Near Mr. Russell's property a culvert is being' put in, and several narrow escapes from serious accidents have been recorded recently. Last Tuesday evening a motorcar containing two ladies and a gentleman stuck hard and fast for fully two hours. Added to their discomforts was tho drenching rain. Tho only bright feature of the proceedings was" the fact that two out of tho three inmates of tho car were on their honeymoon.
