COMPENSATION COURT.

CHILDER'S TERRACE. .C2OOO CLAIM ON CITY COUNCIL. Legal argument was heard by the Compensation Court yesterday in tho case in which John James Boyd proceeded against tho Wellington City Council to recover the sum of X2OOO as compensation for alleged depreciation of claimant's property in Childer's Terrace, caused by the alterations mado to tho street. Tho Court set up to deal with the claim comprised Mr. Justice Sim and two assessors, Mr. Win. Ferguson and Mr. A.'L. Wilson. Sir John Fimllay, K.C., with Mr. D. M. Fandlay, appeared for tho claimant, whilo the City .Solicitor (Mr, J. O'Shea) appeared for the City Council'. Particulars of tho claim were published last week. The main point in dispute was as to whether Childer's Terrace was a public highway or a private street. A considerable amount of evidence had been tendered on the point, and yesterday counsel delivered their addresses. Decision was reserved, the Court being adjourned until Monday weojs.
