.TENDERS FOR BUILDINGS,
The Wellington. Automatic Bakeries, Ltd.—the company formed some months ago for tho purpose of making and bakin" bread by means of automatic machinery—is progressing. Some timo ago tho machinery plant was ordered from Messrs. Baker and Sons, Ltd.,. of Willcsden Junction, London, and it will be ready, for erection almost as soon as the building is ready to receive it. Regarding tho buildings for this big- enterprise, " two contracts hayo recently been kt. The contract for the factory building. which will have a frontage to Taranalu Street of 74 feet by a total depth of 125 ft.. has been, let to "Messrs. J. and A Wilson, tho contract price approximating £7000. The front .portion of the building, to be erected in brick, steel, and concrete, will bo tee® £ J®rlCfl.n--height for tho full extent of the frontase, but at tho rear, where the big travelling oven, bread-room, and racks aro located, the building will bo a .°n®-stwy brick structure. The height is needed in the front section of the building, ,as in the automatic process of bread-makuig the flour h&B to bo hoisted well atone tho second fl«>r to tho top of the ramns> hopper, and various parts of the work arc done by the machinery on the parage of tho dough from tiie mixer to the oven on tho ground floor at tho back. Thore the loaves, automatically wkM and shaped, aro received on a grille, which travels slowly through tho ? TCn ; ~^ c pace of this grille, or travelling bottom, to tho oren. is so nicely adjusted that bv the timo it reacheg tho outlet tho -broad is dono "to a turn, all vitaouj; •being at any stage man-handled. All the floors of the factory are to be. of reinforced concrete, and the interior wa Is of brick. The site of the factory is the property adjoining tho haicory of Mr. \\. A. Kellow. in Taranaki Street. Messrs. Humphries Bros., have secured tho contract for tho ercchon of stables for the bakeries, to bo built on tho corner of Tory Street and Charlton Avenue. Iho contract prico is JJ1765. Mr. Bennie is tho architect for both buildings.
