SHANNON NOTES.
The Rev. J. A. Mackenzie presided at the weekly meeting of tho Debating Society on Tuesday night in tho Druids' Hall, when Mi'. J. .T. Trainer moved, "That strikes in general have'benefited tho working classes." The motion was opposed by Mr. Lever. Messrs. llcnsman, Clayton, Barclay, W. Law, Kxall, and Selby also contributed to tho discussion, -which resulted, on a voto being taken, in a victory for the affirmative by II votes to , r >. Next Tuesday evening Mr. W. Clayton, seconded by Miss 'Wickliffe, will move, "That quadrupeds show greater intelligence than birds." Mr. Hcnsinan, seconded by Miss Laurvig, will oppose tho motion, ________
