MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEET. A meeting of tho Management Committee of the Wellington Rugby Union was held last night, Mr. E. O. Hales presid-
ing. . , Tho R-eferees' Association again wrote in reference to the lack of flags on the Miramar Park grounds. The secretary explained that he had made arrangements to have the flags on the grounds last Saturday, but the man employed had evidently not attended to tho matter.—The .secretary was instructed to see that the trouble was- rectified beforo' next Saturday, and to write explaining to the Re--.crees' Association.
The Athletic wrote, stating that the referee for the Athletic-Porirua junior match had failed to attend—lt was decided to write to the club stating what arrangements had beett made to have a substitute attend last Saturday, as it had been impossible for the referee appointed to attend. The South Canterbury Union wroto asking could a match be arranged at Timaru on Thursday during the AV T ellington team's southern tout., Alter discussion it was dccided to let tho matter stand over for a week, so as to ascertain if a match could be played on the last Tuesday of tho tour, in time for tho team to catch the Maori at Christchurch for Wellington. The New Zealand Rugby Union forwarded a letter in which application was made tj have tho disqualification removed from W. Wineera, a member of the Maori team which toured Australia in 1909. It was explained fthat he had not played the 'League game since the return of the Maori professional team.—lt was decided to refer tho application back to the New Zealand Union.
Tho matter of the appointment of a manager for the team to visit Hawera on Juno 23 was left in tho hands of tho chairman, with a view to his approaching Mr. Meredith. MATCH AT PETONE. At the I'etone Recreation Ground yesterday Potono defeated Oriental by 13 points to 8, after a scrambling game. Oriental wero threo men short, but tho remaining twelve put up a fight, and at one time in tho second half looked like winning. Petono commenced with a strong attack, and Corson had an unsuccessful shot at goal from a penalty. Oriental used their backs, and made ground, but Evenson i started an attack for Petone, and after AVynyard, • Dansey, M'Kenzie, and Moris had handled the ball, tho last-named got over. 3—o. Headed by Hornig and Rankin, Oriental now set up a itVong onslaught, Lindsay and Lewison being prominent. Read, -however, broke up tho attack, and started a Petone forward rush, which culminated in Riddler scoring under tho posts. Gorson B—o. In the second half tho pace slowed up, and play dragged along, till ten minutes before time, when Oriental vsre attacking. : Dansey (Petone) kicked straight across the goal, and Galvin marked, giving Hornig an excellent chance of adding three points, which he accepted. B—3. Immediately afterwards Doig and Handcock broke away, and Oriental had a few anxious moments, but Lindsay cleared, and the forwards following up quickly, outwitted theiopposition, and Rankin got over, Ilornig added. B—B. Henderson and Collins led Petono out of trouble, and Corson gathered smartly and passed to Dansey, who put in a great tuii, and at tho right moment sent on to M'Kenzie, who dived over. Corson converted. 13—8. Time sounded immediately after, with Petone attacking. Mr. 11. Card was referee.
