A JOHNSON VILLE DIFFICULT!,

Members of tho Johnsonville Towa Board waited as a deputation upon the Hon. J as. Allen (Minister for Finance) yesterday, in reference to raising ail adn' dltional loan from the State Advances Dopartment. Mr. W. H. D. 8011, Ml'., who introduced the deputation, said tint tho Town Board had been carrying outi some extensive lighting works for tho purposo of defraying tho cost ol which it had obtained a loan of .£17,1)00 from tho Advances Department some fifteen months previously. This sum had proved to bo insufficient by about .£I7OO. An application to tlio Advances Department for a loan of this additional amount had been refused, on tho scoro of shortness of funds, and tho deputation had como to ask the Minister for his advicc as to the best courso to pursue. Tho Minister was informed, in answer to questions, that ths loan was provisionally approved last spring by Mr. Poynton, and subsequently refused by Mr. Campbell, the present Superintendent of tho Advances Office. Tho loan had been refused, not on account of the security, but on account of want of funds.

The Minister: "I don't think wc need wasto any time over it. I think you had better apply again to the Advances Office for the ten per cent. If the demands for ten per cent, are not too heavj Jt think I oau moot them. 1 won't givo you any definite promise, because it must dopond on whether I can find the money, but if I can find tho money I will. I will give it if you can prove that you cannot finish your iob without the tell per cent." . . .
