NOT RE-ENTERING POLITICS.

' SIR WM. HALL-JONES. i

Sir William Hall-Jones, until recently Higli Cominisioner for New Zealand In London, returned to Wellington by the Ulimaroa from Sydney yesterday, having been absent from New Zealand for four years and a half. He was accompanied by Lady Hall-Jones, and the two Misses Hall-Jones.

"No, I have no intention whatever of re-entering public life in New Zealand. I have had a long time of it, and now I think I should let others have a. turn," said Sir William, in reply to a question— the question to which most people interested in politics have been awaiting hi* answer with some curiosity.

Ho liad been much grieved, ho said, to hear on his arrival of the death of his oltl friend Sir Arthur Guinness, with wliom ho hod been associated as a mom* ber of the House of Representatives for so many years. Further than this, Sir William would have nothing to say .to The Dominion representative who met him on the ship. Ho would not even speak of his experience in London m High Commissioner, of tlio work of tho ollice, or anything connected with it. "There's lots of time for that," was all that ho could bo induced to say. "I liavo 110 more to say at all, except that we have liad an excellent voyage, and that wo are all very well," ho said, ill conclusion. And, indeed, Sir William liall-Joncs looked yesterday a much more robust man than when he left New ZenIniul at tho end of 1908. His manner was Cheerful and hearty, and his appearance betokened excellent health. He will remain in Wellington for a time, but for Tiow long or how short a timo bo haq not decided. Ho has, in short, made no definite pit lis except that his future resit clence will bo in New.Zealand.
