TRADE RECIPROCITY.
AND THE AUSTRALIAN ELECTIONS, Asked yesterday as .to what effect the Federal election results, which seem to mean the defeat of the Labour Ministry, were likely to have in connection with tlio reciprocal treaty entered into between tho Ministers for Customs of Australia and New Zealand respectively, the Hon. I'. M. B. Fisher stated to a Dominion reporter that it was very difficult to say precisely what tho outcome of tlio probable change of Government in Australia would be. "But," ho added, "my own opinion is tliat the prospect of tlio treaty being put into force is quite as good now as it was before the election took place. The agreement made between Mr. Tudor und myself was of such a nature that i should think it would certainly be as acceptable to tho Liberal party in Australia as it was to the Labour Minister for
Customs. I feel that the desiro in Australia for closer trade relations with New Zealand is so strong tTiat the agreement entered into by the Labour Minister for Customs will probably be faithfully adhered to .by his successor, and that both parties will unite for tho purpose of [Hitting into operation a treaty which 13 outside of the realm of party politics altogether."
