CANADIAN CHEESE.

DECREASING EXPORTS. | The Montreal correspondents of Messrs. J. B. MaoEwan and Co., Ltd., have forwarded the following particulars regarding the Canadian cheese market:—"Wo in Canada find that our 'exports of last year's crop show a reduction of 100,000 boxes as compared with tho previous year, and there aro indications now that this year's exports will show a further reduction; in fact, we would not lie at all surprised to see a reduction of 200,000 bexe? this year, especially if tlio.ro is any large quantity of cream shipped to the United .States, as both milk and cream will bo on the free list when their new tariff is passed. Besides,* our liomo consumption is increasing annually, and wo believe that our. imports of butter next year will show a very substantial increaso. In time we ffill probably manufacture the butter wo eat, and reduce our exports of cheese in^ consequence; but in the meantime, factories are not equipped for making butter, and are not able to malro the-change, so that the unnatural condition of exporting cheese and importing butter will continue for a couple of years at all ovcnt3." PROPERTY SALES, Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd., report having sold during tho past month the following properties:—Boo acres and 510 acres, Tnrakina; SOO acres and 200 acres, Wairarapa; 1200 acres, Rangitikei; 165 acres, Manawatu; 6GO acres, Pelorus Sound—a total of 43G5 acres, purchase money J251,200. Turn up any newspaper and you will certainly find a heading like this: "Labour Trouble—The Difficulty of Securing Efficient Farm Workers." Many a farmer is and las been handicapped because of the inadequate supply of labour, but now tliis difficulty can be ,'overcomo by the purchase of an Anderson Oil Engine to drive his milking machine, oliaffculter, pumps, and oat crusher. Tho "Anderson" will work almost any farm machine. It is reliable, costs little, and is a labour and money-saving device. Its cost of running is very 6light compared to tho power'derived.
