HEREFORD CATTLE BREEDERS.
ANNUAL REPORT. The report to lie presented at the annual meeting of tho New Zealand Hereford Cattle Breeders' Association, which is to bo hold at Palmerston North on June 19, states that tlie balance at bank stands at .£2OB Is. Gd., while, in addition, ,£2OO is placed on fixed deposit. Publics tion of Vol. XIV of tho Herd Book has been, completed, and tho book circulated t.i members. The book contains the registration of 23G bulls and 951 cows and heifers, being an increase of 73 and 168 respectively, abovo tho ai)imnls registered in the previous volume. Vol. XV is now in the printer's bands, and as soon as completed will bo forwarded to niemberd, while a largo number of entries for the succeeding book is now in the secretary's offico, so that by tho coming summer ho liopes to hnve tho volumes right up-to-date. During tho year two large sales took place, Mossts. Moore and Short having disposed of a great number of Herefords, many of which havo gone to new breeders, most of whom will bo joining tlio association as member*. The question of improved shipping facilities and reduced froights on cattle to South American iierts has been placed before the shipping companies by the High Commissioner in London, and correspondence dealing with the subject will be read at tho annual meeting. _ The council, during tho coming year, will deal wtili the inspection of 'herds by the Government Veterinarian, as was agreed upon in tho terms of tlio president's notice of motion. A complete set of the herd books was forwarded to the State Department of Agriculture of tho Uruguay 'Republic, and tho thanks of the Department was received from the Consul to tho Republic. The president (Mr. W. Short), vice-pivsi-dent (Mr. H. B. Stuckey), and ono.member of the council (Mr. D. P. Buchanan), retiro by rotation, but aro eligible for reelection.
MINGIROA ESTATE. The keen demand from the small capitalist for smaller areas is still offering a big inducement to tho large landowners to subdivido their properties and placo them oil the market for sale. For tho benefit of those unsuccessful land seekers at last week's sale. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Palmerston North, draw special attention to what is reported to be n very excellent property that has iust been 'subdivided iiito nine handy little farms. This is tho estate known as the Mingiroa, situated on the Rangitikei River, and tlio property of Messrs. Cornfoot and Hogg. The land in the Rangitikei County is reputed for its cropping, and it is coming very much into favour as dairying land. The Mingiroa Estate is said to comprise some of the best land in tho district. It is exceptionally well grassed, the soil is a rich, warm loam, and winters well, aud is tho healthiest of stock country. The property is practically nil level, is well roaded, and adjoins tho Knrariki railway station. There is an up-to-date butter factory on 'the property, and it is very handy to Marton, Bulls, and Feildmg. The terms under which this estate is to bo sold aro such as should attract buyers. Iho sale is to take place on June 28. at the rooms of Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Rangitikei Street, Palmerston North, and those in search of a desirable farm aro advised to make an early inspection.
