RUNNING THE TRAMWAYS.
1 ' Sir,—Would you allow mo a little space in vour columns to say a few words in regard to tho debate oil tho tram fares, 111" tho first place, I am in hearty sympathy with Mr. Hill in economy of iinanco, and engaging ft manager to be responsible to the council as a whole, not to any individual; but I cannot see with him in tho universal fare. Tho remedy I put forward is, viz., that tho City Connoil require the right of all tramways, to keep the sectional system, shorten the city sections, and chargo 3d. for all long distances. thus encouraging citizens to go and take their abode in the suburbs, and not make it a burden, f.s it is at present. I think, had Mr. Wilford been able to stand for office another term, and carried oiit his proposal to get an expert (Sir. i Badger was mentioned), the difficulty of fares and running tho tramways in a business-like way would havo been a Hiirie of the post. I am, etc., tug W. TOMLIN. Miramar, June 3, 1913.
