SHIPYARD WORKERS.
BALLOT FAVOURS STRIKE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Oopyriclit London, Juno 4. The result of tho shipbuilding employees' ballot, decided on last month, was: 12,215 in favour of a strike, and 4318 for a postponement. (Rec. June 5, 10.45 p.m.) London, June 5. As tho result of a conference between the parties in tho shipbuilding dispute, it is hoped that a strike will be averted. The employers have submitted new proposals, which the men will consider next week. Tho federated unions in the shipbuilding industry were circularised last month and asked to decido whether they would accept tho masters' proposal to adjourn tho request for increased wages within three months, or notify that thev would strike unless their demands were conceded. Tho unions participating in the ballot represent 110,000 skilled workers, but if there is n strike half a million workers will be affected. There liavo been three successive advances In wages of 5 per cent, since 1910.
