HEALTH OF HOTEL PATRONS.
■A MAGISTRATE'S ADVICE. (By Telegraph.—PreEa ABEodation.) Christchurch, June 5. At tho annual meeting of tho Christchurch Licensing Committco 10-dav, tho cliairnian, Mr, H. \V. Bishop, S.M., oil heliali of tho committee, said that Dr. Finch, District Health Officer, ihad drawn tho attention of the committco to the resolution of tho conference on tuberculosis held in Wellington recently, in. which it ivas urged that hotels should bo inspected, and to toko measures to assist in fighting tuberculosis. Iho Health Officei 'had offered to give assistance to the committoo or to licensees. The committee would not make any orders whoro it could not Cilforco tliem, but ho advised licensees to lake advantage of tho Health Officer s offer Tho Health Inspector had inspected tho hotels as to their cleanliness, ana his report was t.bnt Koaowilly tho condilion of the hotels wns good. Iho lioalth officers would assist licensees in regard to the disinfection of rooms and spittoons. Tho inspector had referred to the uudonirabilitv of regular uso being made of bedroom's that did not have free acccss to air. Ho understood thot there were a few bedrooms that camo in that category, and that tliccy wow used only under' pressure. The committco would not make any orders lis to those bedrooms, As long as tho hotels were provided with sufficient accommodation the committor could not interfere. Tho inspector had also urged that there should bo more effcotivo pluss-washing in somo c&sos.
