The' Beef interests lmve petitioned the Senate Finance Committee, protesting against the lowering of on meats and declaring that such an attempt to kill the Beef Trust is more likely to increase the Trust's control of the meat trado. * Tho petitioners favoured a fifteen per centum ad valorem duty on all meats' nnd live stock in order to prevent the decay of the industry.
