Wedding in St. Paul's. The marriage took place in St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral yesterday afternoon of Miss Mabel Jones, of London, to Mr. A. K. Barber, youngest son of Mrs. Barber, Hobson Street, Wellington. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. M. Johnson, M.A. Tho bride, who was given away by Misa Florence Birch, woro a gown of white silk, with a veil and coronet of orange blossoms, and carried a bouquet of white flowers. - Her bridesmaid was Miss Ward, who was gowned in a soft cream frock with a largo black hat, and carried a bonquet of autumn foliago and soarlet berries. Mr. Macdonald was tho best man. and Mr. H. Harold was groomsman. At tho conclusion of the service, a reception was held at the residence of Mrs. Barber, attended only by relatives and a. few friends. Mrs. Barber, mother of the bridegroom, wore a gown of black silk, a long fur coat, and a black velvet hat with feathers. Mrs. E. Barber, a bluo costume and a sealskin toque; Miss Innes, navy costume, squirrel furs, .and hat to match; Miss Birch, black lace frock; long bluo cwat pnd a black hat. The in a blue coat and skirt, and black velvet bat, with violets. Petono Wedding. Yesterday moriiing Miss Annie B. Fleet; second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Fleet, of Potone, was married to Mr. Arthur Duncan Alexander, fourth son of Mr, and Mrs. Alexander, of Lower Hutt. Tho ceremony was performed at St. Augustine's Churoh, the Rev. G. B. Stephenson officiating. Tho brido was given away- by her brother, Mr. W. Fleet. As tho wedding was a quiet one, the bride was married in hor travelling dress—a navy bluo tailormade—and large blaok satin hat, with ft white feather. She carried a bouquet of white roses, and woro a beailtiful ruby ring, the gift of the bridegroom.' The bride was attended by her sister (Miss Eva Fleet), who wore a pretty eaxebluo gown, trimmed with lace, and a black beaver hat, with white ostrich plumes. She carried a violet bouquet. Mr. Har■ld Alexander, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. After 'the ceremony a reception was held at tho residence of the bride's^ parents, only the immediate relations of both parties being present. The bridogroom's present to the bridesmaid' was/ a fro Id brooch, set with amythests. Moluded in tho many presents received was a silvermounted oak trav from Messrs. Brailsford and Co., ana a silver afternoon tea service from the staff of which tho bridegroom was a member.
Mr. and Mrs. Alexander left for Marlborough yesterday. Their home subs©-, quently will be at Brooklyn. Entertaining Miss Proctor. A, farewell "at home" is to be given for Miss Mary Proctor by his Worship the Mayor at the Conoert Chamber of the Town Hall on Monday, June 9, at 8 p.m. Brief addresses will bet made, with special reference to the Cawthron Solar Observatory, by the Mayor, the Government Astronomer, Professor I.aby, of Victoria College, and Dr. C. M. Hector. Oni Saturday evening Miss Proctor will give a' lecture at Wellington College for the purposo of raising funds for a photographic- camera, to be attached to the telescope at the College Observatory. This will be her farewell lecture, as she intends to return to Australia during the latter part of the month, after a brief trip to Hotorua. In Australia she will lecture throughout Queensland to secure funds for a telescope for the Brisbane University. Her Icctures will be given under the patronage of his Excellency Sir William Macgregor, and the auspices, of the Royal Geographical Society. Yankee Tennis Tournament. A "Yankee" tennis tournament was played om tho Brougham Hill tennis courts yesterday, play beginning at ten o'olock. Representatives were present from most of the local clubs, and twentyouo couples entered into competition. The winners woto the Misses Davis and Staples, who placed to their credit five wine and no losses. The consolation prize was awarded to Miss Plimmer and Mr. Edwards. Cheera were given at the conclusion of tho play, for the winners and for Mr. .T. A. B. Howe, who organised tho tournament. Both luncheon and afternoon tea were provided) on the grounds, and a very pleasant day was spent by all coxiorned. Mr. and Mrs. Hockley, who liavo been staying at Konilworth, returned to Dannovirko yesterday. Mrs. and Miss Holdsworth were passengers for the south on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Maoassey are staying at Kenilworth. Mrs. Mncasaoy returned to Wellington last woek from a visit to Dunedin. Mr. and Mrs. It. Maimsell leave for Masfcrton on Thursday to attend the club ball that is taking place on Thursday -owning there. Mrs. W. Jame3, who stays at Kenilworth, left for Masterton on Friday, and will be present atl the ball on Thursday. Mrs. Henry has returned to Masterton from her visit to Wellington. Among tho guests staying at Kenilworth are Mr., Mrs., and Miss Nation, Miss Gibbons (Auckland), Mrs. and Miss O'Lc-ai-y (Auckland), and Mrs. Thompson (Kelson). Mrs. and Miss Nation leave frr Auckland on Saturday. Mrs. and Miss Knox have returned to Wellington from their visit to Auckland. Mrs. J.
