THE SIXTH CONTINGENT.
ANNUAL REUNION. The ninth annual reunion of the Sixth New Zealand Mounted Rifles was held in Godbar's rooms last evening. The attendance numbered about 50, Lieutenant Quinlan presiding. There were present visitors from all parts of New Zealand, and one hailed from as far away as Queensland. A big budget of correspondence was received from various members, who, through force of circumstances, were unable to bo presont. This was read by the secretary (Lieutenant Beamish), and was much appreciated by those prcfent, especiailv tho incidents referred to by the writers. "Do you remember?" was a phrase common to the majority of tho letters, and as tho tragic,, humorous, or pathetic incident was unfolded, tho applause and sympathetic nods told but too plainly that the curtain of memory had indeett been rolled back, and in many cases the incidents were being lived over again. A lengthy programme was got through, toasts, war cries, and musical items biding judiciously intermixed. Amongst the toasts honoured were: "Fallen Comrades," proposed by Lieutenant Beamish; "Absent Comrades,'' by Mr.'Chant,; and "Tho Army, the Navy, and Territorials," by Mr. Reeves. Tho last-mentioned toast was responded to by Captain Evatt, wht> made some interesting comparisons betw'ecn the Volunteer and Territorial camps, and also Appealed to those present to assist to further in every way tho Territorial scheme.
