Owing to the increasing number of pupils attending the wool class of the Petone Technical School, the board of managers, acting in conjunction with the director (Mr. J. H. Lynskey), have found it necessary to extend the wool classing instruction to another night each week, commencing from this week. In conversation with a reporter, the director stated that tho wool class, which was just entering on its third'ycar, was the most reproductive of all. In the hands of the present instructor (Mr. A. Cate) tho attendances had increased from about eight or nine to twenty. Of these pupils, quite a number came from Wellington, and one from Upper Hutt. The system of instruction was a capital one, and there was always plenty of suitable wool on hand. • Examinations were held from time to time, the latest having taken place a few days, ago, and the results will bo made known shbrtly. The idea of splitting up the class, for two nights per week, was to ensure full instruction to every pupil. As instance of tho work which is being done, it may be mentioned that several of last year's pupils took up positions on various stations as wool classers, and in one case a report forwarded to a farmer from the London buyers stated that, the rise in the price of wool shipped by this particular farmer was due to tho excellent classing done in the shearing shed. "Our Technical School 'is going to be a big thing in Petone," concluded tho director, "and I h(ive every confidence that before long the wool class will be opened, for three nights each week."
