MISCELLANEOUS. E. Johns wrote alleging that W. T. Keddell was not eligible to becomo tho transferee of Section 22. Block IV, Mt. Cerberus.—lt was resolved that tho letter bo received. Tho Commissioner submitted a schedulo of leases of Education lteservea which will expire on December 31 liext.lt* was resolved to obtain reports and valuation' from tho rangers to enable the board to consider the Question of renewals. The ranger reported that P. E. Paul, tho licensee of irections 7, lilock 111 and I# liloek VII, Waipakura, waa not resident, but was residing on land adjoining.—lt was resolved to accept that as suiflcient compliance. It was resolved to approve of the tirst instalment of improvement money on Section 114, Block XIII, Belmont, being dealt with as follows:—£l7 2s. lQd. to be paid to Public Account, and £42 193. 2d. paid over to the person entitled to receive it. F. H. M'Lean applied lor a rehearins of the decision oi tho board, dated January 30, 1913, to forfeit his interest in Scction 15, Block XIX. Ohakiuic Y.S., not having received notice of tho forfeiture until ilay 3, owing to change of address — To be informed that if he will comply with the conditions of residence and improvements within three months, the # board will reconsider at. T. M. Page, solicitor, in tho transfer of Section 11, Block VIII, Whirinaki, from ii. Hansen to T. Thomson, asked that the rent conceded under Section 127 of Tho Land Act. 1908, be not demauded—lt was resolved that the board has no power to agree to tho request, but will remit tho rent for the remainder of tho period. Tho following applications to convert tlie tenure of their licenses to freehold were approved:—John O'Brien, Section 2, Block 11, Hautapu. H. H. Beuck, Sections 10 and 13, Block IX, Pukeokahu. S. Messrs. 1). It. Bunny and S. Q. Broadbent submitted an agreement for an alteration of tlio boundaries of Sections 2, Block XII and 4, Block XVI, iiuangarua, in order to securo practical leucine line.—lt was resolved to approve, lessees to pay all oqsts.
W. Early applied to lot his house on Section 2, Block VII, ltanijataua Township, for about six months, aB he cannot get work near the land—lt was resolved to approve.
W. 6'Conneli, to whom a transfer of Section 60, Onakune V.H., was granted last meeting, asked to be allowed to sublet for twelve months, as he will retain his employment at a mill 3J miles away for tome time yet—lt was resolved to decline. A report was received from tlie rancor with reference to timber cut without authority on Lot 4, l'lock XVI, ilarigaone S.D., anointing to 12,325 sup. feet, and it was resolved to authorise the removal of it before June 17, 1913, on payment of a royalty of £12 6s. 6d. immediately. The Commissioner was empowored to issuo a license to an applicant tor tramway rights through Crown Land at Oio, where shown on I'lan 28834/1, at a rent of £1 per annum, subject to such terms and conditions as the Commissioner may seo lit to impose.
A report was received from the rancor making suggestions with regard to dealing with Section 1, Block XIII, Tararua— it was resolved to leave the matter iu tho hands of the Commissioner.
'l'lie Commissioner submitted proposals for dealing with unseleclcd (sections in tlie Normandalo and Wilford Settlements.—lt was resolved to reolfer two lots of 593 acres 3 roods .08 polo.', and 490 acres 1 rood 52 poles in. the iNormaudale Settlement at tho original prices. It was further realised tliat all lots in Wilford ,Settlement between lleretaimga, Street and High Street, bo offered for public competition, the priccg and grouping to be sumbitted to a future meeting.
The board considered the aupstion of reducing the valuation for improvements on Section 1, Block X, Kurioi, o.t present open for lease,.veighted with £2?0.—1t was resolved to reduce tho valuo of the improvements to £100 and to reoffer, allowing J. Allan ■ to remain in temporary occupation, in. terms of his letter of May 24. lira. J. D. Murphy applied for a temporary license to occupy Sections 142 to 345. Makuri Township.—lt was resolved to grant a temporary permit from year to year at a rent of £1 10s. per annum, without compensation for improvements. An application from W. J. Price for a liconso to occupy survey paddock Section 2, l'iriaka suburbs. 6 acres 3 roods 25 poles, for a term of five years, under Section 130 of the Land Act, 1908, was considered, and it was resolved to grant it. at a rent, of £10 per annum, subject to compensation at end of term for any imgrovements that may bo effected by tho licensee, such improvements, in tho way of buildings, to be submitted for tho approval of the board before being effected.
An application from A. Smith to have Section 52, Ohakune V.S., 5 acres, allotted to him under Seetioij 158 of the Land Act. 1908, was considered, when it was resolved to recommend the application lor the Minister's approval, at such rent as the Commissioner may fix; allotment to take place after cessation of present occupancy. Declarations of loss of license were received as under, and the nccessary procedure having been carried out, it was resolved to hsuenew licenses on the same terms and conditions, under the provisions of Section 94 of the Laud Act, 1908. J. Cotter, sections 119, 120, 121. Block XVII. Makuri Township. G. W. Goodrich, Section 1, Illock X, Ohilieu-airua.
The Commissioner having reported that roads had been properly taken and closed through the undermentioned holdings, it was resolved that the titles be called in and amended accordingly, under the nrovisions of the Crown Grant Act. 1908:-Section 4. Block VIII, lictaruhe; Section 26, Illock XIV. Poliangina.
H. W. Jordajt applied tor a Hoonse to grazo a strip of Crown land, adjoining Sec-,
tion 2, Block VIII, Bangataua Townshin.— It was resolved to grant a temporary lease from year to year, at a rent of £1 ss. per annum, on tho usual coniiitions.
With reference to J. Barry's application to restoro to him tho timber reserve, Section 9, Block 11, Huniia, it was resolved to adviso him that tho reserve is still required for the purpose for which it wan eet aside, aud the board declined to grant his miUewt.
A report from the ranger was received making recommendation with regard to the disposal of the milling timber on Sections 6 and 7, Block XVI, Jlanganui, and portion of SA, and it was resolved to obtain an appraisement of this timber, after which the question as to how it is to bo disposed of will bo further considered.
It was resolved to decline the application from T. J. Bush for Section 30, Block 111, Makotuku, which is at present withheld for milling purposes, and to obtain an appraisement of tho timber.
It was resolved to grant F. Nicholson a permit to occupy temporarily from year to year an area of about 1 acre between railway and Kakahi Station (north of Section) 12A), at a rent of £1 10s. per annum, subject to determination at auy time and to usual conditions.
A report from tho ranger was received making suggestion for dealing with Section 28. Block XVI, Akatamwa, 40 acrca.— It was resolved to leave the matter in the hands of the Commissioner.
It was resolved to grant A. Faulkner a license to construct and use a tramway through Sections 2, 3, 4, 7, 12, Block Xii, Jlanganui, under Section 307 of the Land Act, 1908, at a rent of £10 per annum, subject to usual condition, royalty to be paid at current rates for any milling timber that may be removed from the line, and subject to such term and other conditions as the Commissioner may eee fit to fix. A report was received from the ranger making recommendations with regard to dealing with Crown land about Kakahi township, and it was resolved to invite tenders for licenses to occupy Lots C. D, and E, for a term of five years—Lot A to bo granted to B. L. Prou and Lot F*to B. H. Wallace on temporary permits for a term of five yea-re, all at rentals suggested by ranger and subject to such conditions as the Commissioner may see fit to impose. It was resolved to approve of the amount received for improvements on Section 25. 1 Block IX, Hunua, being dealt with as follow:— £25 10s. to bo applied towaruj payment to Crown of part advances and cost I of reofFering, and the balaucc, £3 95., to I be paid over to tho person found to be I entitled to receive it.
E. S. Holloway applied for a temporary lease of Section 133, Block 111, Mangahao.— It was resolved to offer him a month-to-month tenancy at a rent at the rato of £30 per annum. . , It was resolved that Section 19, Block IV, Owhango Township. 1 rood, be rcoffcred on. renewable lea.se at an annual rent, in terms of ranger's report-. In continuation of tiho board s resolution of April 24, 1913, it was resolved to offer part Scction 78, Manunui V.S., 11 acTes 1 rood 30 perches, as villago horoeflteads on rcnewablo leaee at an annual ront and weighted with improvements, in terms of ranger's report. ■ It was resolved to allow J. M Neill to remain ill occupation of Section 30, Block V. Apiti, area 2 acres 3 roods, from year to year, after Juno 30, 1913, at a rent of £1 ' per annum, aub.iect to usual condiIt was resolved to allow C. Carlson to remain, in occupation of pastoral run in Keketapauma Block, 1350 acres 3 roods 23 perches, for tho present from month to month as from March 1, for a rent at the rate of £182 per annum. A. Litllejohn, tho licensee of Section 27, Block X. Umutoi, having applied for about 6 acres of Section 26, Block X, TJinutoi. as a homestead site, it was resolved to grant tho application and add it to Ills holding. Tiie Commissioner reported that the noloers of Pastoral Licenses 22, 25, 26 and 27 had failed to pay the fines accrued for non-payment of rents witlun time, and it was resolved to send tho usual notices to the lessees and threaten to gazette tho leases as hablo to forfelturo under Section 251 of tho Land Act. A plan having been submitted to tho board showing portion of Section 2, Block I. Maungakaretu, which it has been found necessary to tako for a road to .give access to Section. 1, Block XV, Karioi, it was resolved to give consent. thereto, and amend the lease accordingly. Mrs. M. M. Allen applied for exemption from residence on Section 9, Block 11. Tiffin. It was resolved to postpone tho matter pending tho ranger's report. The following casts of non-performanco of conditions wero submitted, and it was resolved to take action as noted under each case. A. A. Hatfield,. A letter was read from tho mortgagee.—lt was decided to ,send a notice of forfeiture at next meeting unless ho complies with the conditions. Mrs. M. Sparks, Sections 6 and 7, Block X, Itangataua V.S., non-re-sidence.—lt was resolved to notify the sections will he forfeited at tlie next meeting of the board unless she complies with the conditions.
