Tho' public arc earnestly requested to resister ail letters containing money or valuables intended to be sent by post. All books and sample-packets and news, papers for places within the Dominion must bo posted half an hour before tho ordinary Jotter-mail closes.
Unless otherwise specified, registered letters and parccfe-post packapos must bo handed in and money-ordcra obtained one hour before tile ordinary mail closes.
AH the principal mails by train and steamer close at To Aro and Courtcnay Place I'o.'.t Offices at the same hours at at tho Chief Post Office, with the exception that there is no late-fee clearance, and that mails by the ferry steamers for southern officer close at 6 p.m. On King's Birthday the Postal Department will bo closed in all its branches. Mails by steamers sailine on King's Birthday will close nt 8 p.m. on Mondav, June 2. The only dispatches by train on Kine's Birthday will be for the Wairarapa, Manawatu, Wanganui, and Taranaki districts, clusinjr at 6.30 a.m.; also Ha-.vlie's Bay ami Auckland, closing at 7.15 a.m. There will bo no day clearance of tho city and suburban receivers, but the nisht clearance will bo made as usual. There will be deliveries by letter-carriers, but on tho previous evening there will bo a delivery over the counter at the Chiof Post Offico between 8.30 and 9.30 p.m., for all classes of correspondence addrossed to the Post Office; and in tho letter-carriers' room (entry Featlierston Street) between 8.30 and 9.30 p.m., for all classes of correspondence which is delivered bv letter-carrier.
