The only Cabinet Minister absent from Wellington to-day will bo the Hon. James Allen, who is to arrive at Auckland from Vancouver on Tuesday next. Tho Hon. H. I). Bell uill leave for Dunctlin this evening, and will return probably on Saturday, June 7. Tho lion. 1(. 11. Rhodes will leave for Auckland to-morrow, and tho lion, W. F. Massey (Prime Minister) and the Hon. W. 11. Hcrrios will leave for Auckland oil Monday.
Tho new General Manager of Now Zealnad Railways (Mt. E. H. niley) is expected to arrive in tho Dominion iu September next. On his way out from Great Britain ho will spend some weeks in inspecting various railway systems in the United States and in Canada.
Mr. Jas. Anvcs, city valuer, lias been granted two months' leavo of absonoo to onablo him to recruiit his health, which has not been very good lately. Referring to Mr. Ames's leavfe at tho City Council meeting last evening, tho Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luko) remarked that llr. Ames, who was a highly valued officer of the counail, had not had a holiday for forty years, and was justly entitled to a w»ll-earn«I rest.
General Godley, Commandant of tho New Zealand forces, arrivts in Wellington from the south by the Maori this morning. Sir George Clifford was a passenger for the south by the Maravoa last evening. Dr. Ilogg is a passenger from Lytfcelton to Wellington by the Maori this morning. The Very Rev. Dean liegnault, of Wellington, is a passenger from tho south by the Maori this morning. i Sir William Ilall-Jones, formerly High Commissioner for New Zealand, is to leave Sydney on Juno 7 for Wellington, and will arrive here on 'Juno 11. Councillor E. Fletcher has been appointed chairman of tho Corporation Markets Committee. Messrs. F. Curtie, 11. 11. Simmons, and L, Glover havo been elected delegates of the Wellington branch of the Walcrsido Workers' Union to tho Unity Congress. Mr. A. Paterson, late borough engineer at Gisborne, is a visitor to Wellington. Tho death occurred in Sydney on Tuesday last of M. Chambosier, who married Miss Docy Stewart, sister of Miss Nellie Stewart, tho popular Australian actress, and Mr. Richard Stewart, of J. C. Williamson's managerial staff in New Zealand.
Mr. W. E. Jackson, Now Zealand manager for Messrs. Gordon and Gotcli, will leave to-day for Melbourne to roliovo the general manager during the latter's absenco in Europe.

Mr. Richard Stewart, of tho managerial staff of J. C. Williamson,-Ltd., has polio to Auckland in connection with a reception to be accorded to Adeline Genee, ono of tho world's greatest dancers, who is duo to call there en route from Vancouver to Sydney as a passengor by tho Makura, due at tho northern port on Tuesday next. The dancer in question is to make her first appearance in Australasia at Melbourne on Juno 21.
Mr. H. B, Leigliton has been appointed a member of tlw Assessment Court, umdei Iho Valuation of Land Act, for the Tipper lfutt and Johnsonvillo Town Districts. Mr. W. Shrimpton. lias been similarly appointed in Ilawko's Bay.County..
Tho appointment of Mr. F. W. Hart, as registrar of electors and returning officer at Wauganui, is gazetted.
