Tho position at present waa that if the residents of a country district could muster an average attendance of more than twelve children, the board was prepared to apply to the Government for a grant of .CIOO, with which to build a shelter shed to sc-rve until tho attendance would warrant tlio erection of au ordinary school building. S«cli "shelter shed" schools were lieing built ill ft number of districts. . Mr. Peacocke, of To Akau, complained that in his district 2G school children wero housed in a shanty, and repeated requests had failed to induce Departmental assistance oven for repairs. Mr. Hanks under' took to bring tins and a few other speci« fied complaints under tho notico of tlw" board.
