CZAR'S ARRIVAL IN BERLIN,

CROWDS SWEPT INTO SIDE STREETS.

By IWegraph--Press Association— Copyright (Rec. May 23, 11.55 p.m.) Berlin, May 22. The Tsar lias arrived in Berlin, to attend tho wedding festivities on the occasion of tho marriage of the Kaiser's daughter, Princess Victoria Luise, and Prince Ernest Augustus of Cumberland.

Extraordinary precautions were taken for the protection of the Tsar on the journey here. The whole length of railway over which he travelled was guarded by military, and all roads leading'to the railway were closed and guarded by gendarmes.

A huge staff of Russian secret police is accompanying the Tsar on his visit.

The scene on tho 'Tsar's arrival was a striking contrast to that when King Qeorgo was welcomed. The route was lined with militaiy six deep, and tho crowd wis swept back into the side-streetsi

Tho Kaiser, in a Russian uniform, with King George, welcomed tho Tsar at the railway station.

There was a splendid miiilaiv inception, but Wednesday s geniality was absent.

OVER KING GEORGE'S VISIT,

Berlin, May 22. The newspapers rejoice over the relaxation of the strain between England and Germany. They aro hopeful that King George's visit will prevent a relapse into the bitter antagonism of earlier days.
