STILL HANGING FIRE.

(Eec. May 23, 11.20 p.m.) London, May 23. The Powers have replied to the Allies' request for modifications in the draft peace treaty. The Powers' reply states that they believe discussion' of the modifications would entail delay and expresses a hope that Turkey and the Allies will reach a peace settlement as soon as possible. The Turkish delegates have objected to the Allies' modifications in regard to the disposition of tho Aegean Islands. They urge that if Turkey is to be bound By the Powers' decision tho Allies should also bo similarly held..
