RACING MEN IN COURT.
A DISQUALIFICATION. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright Melbourne, May 23. What has become known as the Blackpool case, in which deep interest is being evinced in sporting oircles, has concluded in tho Civil Court before Mr. Justice Hodges., Tho case arose out of the disqualification of Frank Samuel Meyers, well known in financial circles, and others in connection with tho running of the racehorse Blackpool at Moonee Valley on December 14 last. Meyers proceeded against Mr. Casey (chairman of tlie Victoria Eacing Club),.and the stipendiary stewards and secretary of tho Moonee Valley Club, seeking orders to. set aside tho. disqualification. ■ 1 ■ The evidence showed that Meyers believed that Blackpool was unable to win, and backed Prince Aurate, the winder, and that ho liad also laid tho rider and trainer of Prince Aurate something to nothing to win. Mr. Justice Hodges pointed out that Meyers had told tho stewards that he had backed his own horse, whereas the money he had put on was for his friends. Tho application to set aside the disqualification was dismissed.
Moyers was granted leave to appeal to ' the High Court.
