London, May 23. A trial notable for the application of the Unwritten law resulted in the acquittal at the Wiltshire Assizes of John Price, who was charged with the ,murder of his brother .Nathaniel on January 12. The accuscd admitted that ho had shot lis brother thrice. . The money for the defence was provided by public subscription. Counsel for the defence stated that the accused had committed tho crime, not in +hfi heat of temper, but in agony had brutally ill-treated Ims parents and terrorised the family. . Justice Ridley, in summing up, said the circumstances of the case werei horrible. There had been no question of self-defence. The brother Nathaniel had been shot like . a rat, but he would be sorry to see a verdict of guilty of murder returned. Tho Judge suggested that the accused should be acquitted, or a verdict of manslaughter returned.
