A BIG EMIGRANT CONTINGENT. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright London, May 21. Tho steamer Belgic lias sailed with fifteen hundred emigrants for Western Australia. This is the largcet contingent evei- sent to a singlo State.
Tlio emigrants include twenty-two boys selected by tho Child Emigration Society.
Sir Newton Moore, Agent-General for Western Australia, fareivelled tho party. Among those at the station were: Mr. Kirkpatrick (Agent-General for South Mr. Jenkins (ex-Agent-Genernl for South Australia), Mr. Peake (Premier of South Australia), Mr. Norton (M.L.C., Queensland), Mr. Whiting, and others. COMMENT BY "THE TIMES." London, May 21. "The Times," commenting on the emigration question, says: —"It is desirable that great sparsely-populated portions of tho Empire should not be allowed to lie waste; their development should be carried on by our own people. Tho interests of Empiro demand it."
