THE DEATH PENALTY. Vienna, May 21. The man Kunschak, who in February last assassinated M. Schumeier, Parliamentary Leader of the Austrian Socialists, at a Vienna railway station, has been sentenced to death. [Kunschak, an iron worker, followed Schumeier from a meeting and shot him in the car with a pistol. Ho admitted that his object was revenge, and declared that he had been boycotted, and was unable to get. work, owing to his expulsion from tho Socialist organisation on suspicion that he was securing tho arrest of workmen.]

Dr. Clark, Anglican Archbishop of Melbourne, who has been seriously ill for some weeks, is slowly recovering. VICTORIAN PREMIER'S TOUR, London, May 21. Sir. Watt, Victorian Premier, inspected tho Bristol Docks and cold storage. The Lord Mayor of Bristol entertained Mr. Watts, who expressed his appreciation of the facilities at tho port for handling perishable goods. Mr. Watt was afterwards the guest of tho father of Sir John Puller, Governor of Victoria.
