COLUDES WITH FLOATING MINE
120 SOULS ABOARD.
Bt Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Eeo. May 22, 11.5 p.m.) London, May 22. The Messageries steamer Senegal has been blown up, through ooming into tact with a floating mine, off Smyrna. There were 120 people aboard at the time of the disaster. TUGS SENT TO THE SCENE. (Reo. May 23, 1 a.m.) Constantinople, May 22. Tugs have left for Smyrna to render any succor possible at tho scene of tho calamity to the Senegal.
[Thd Senegal was a French steamer of three decks, and was of 3C25 tons gross and 2236 tons net register. She was built in 1872 "by tho Messageries Maritimes Company at La Ciotat for tho Messageries Maritimes Company. Her dimensions were: Length, 392.3 ft.; breadth, '40ft., and depth 30.2tt. The vessel's port of registry was Marseilles. Messrs. Levin and Co. are local agents for the company. The Messageries Maritimes Company have steamers employed running from French ports to Australia. It is probable that the Senegal was engaged in the Mediterranean trade.!
