Our special reporter at Wanganui telegraphed last night tijat the weatner promised to be fine, but that a good deal of rain had fallen the night previous. If it remains fine, tho goiig should be perfect. Chief Marshal has a lot of supporters, and liis party are very confident nf the result, but so are those behind Ngatimnru, while Darby Paul and St. Ktvin can also be depended upon to show up.

Lady Montoa and the Auckland candidate Phosphorus will each have admirers, but the local horse is an assured fuvcurite. The Porirua pair, Fireworks (M'Sweeney) and Salopian (M'Flynn) will likely seo a very short price in the Hnck Steeples. The former has improved out of all knowledge since he raced at Trt-n----tham, and yesterday morning vas too good for Hawick over a fast mile.

In tho Borough Handicap, Ineurii, a dual winner at Hawera, and Postillion aro likely to be the public selections, but tho form of Stepney has been so good on the track? that ho is bound to come in for plenty of support.

Owners should not overlook the Auckland acceptances, which close to-morrow night. A final payment for tho Cioat Northern Hurdles must be mado at tho same time.

T. Wilson, with Lady Georgia and Powder Fox, left Awapuni for Ellerslio on Monday last.
