SANDON FARMERS' UNION.

ANNUAL MEETING. Reviewing the past year at tho annual meeting of tho Sundon Farmers' "Lnion, Mr. J. G. Wilson, president, remarked that the year had been an eventful one, inasmuch as two things tho union had advocated sinco its formation had become accomplished-facts, namely, the freehold for lease-in-perpetuity tenants and a better system regarding valuation of land. Through the union's persistency, tenants of grazing runs and native leases hail "been /promised tettvr conditions. Tho Hon. Mr. Mnssey has also agreed to carry out a proposal by the -union that five acres be granted applicants on which a cottage be. crcctcd by the State, and tho occupiers be granted the option of eonverting the leasehold' into freehold on casv terms. It was also pleasing to know that after years of persistent advocacy, immigration of farm labourers and domestic servants is to receive immediate attention. • The following officers were elected:— Chairman, Mr. J. G.'Wilson; viee-prcsi-dotit. -Mr. Thomas Masters; committee, Messrs. W. E. Pearce, W. S. Penny, H. Perrctt, A. Harris, A. Eglinton, George Williams, H. pagan, C. Masters, ,T. Masters, and W. J. This sale is 0110 which must attract the general Attention of the farmers of the Dominion, both from the situation of the land, in the centre of ime of the main dairying districts of tho Domiuion, the exceptional quality of tho land, and the high-class of the improvements etfeeled thereon.

Whilst values of land have appreciated materially during the last few years, it Fcems probably that I lie 'tost land of the country has not yet reached its.lull producing value, and whilst dairying in this countrv must always hold a premier place it is dear that a levelling-up process is going on under which the profits to be obtained from Rood land by fotleniii" bullocks. lambs, etc.. will shortly approximate t.hoH< of dairying- That the thrifty and industrious farmer of tins vountry has a bright tutur.' before him none tan deny, and now that the shin, "cncy of the money market gives early promise of being relaxed n record sale is anticipated.
