CONCERNING A NON-UNION TALLY CLKRIC. (By Telegraph —Presa Association.) Invercargill, Hay 21. A strike occurred ou the Bluff Wharf to-dav in connection with tho loading oi the steamer Whakatane. Members of the Waterside Union protested against tho employment of a non-unionist tally cleric, and demanded that his services be dispensed with. The demand was refused, whereupon the unionists struck. Iho watersider woifcers held a meeting, at which n discussion took place as to whether the tally clerk was legally a waterside worker, and mentioned that Mr. Justice Sim had decided to the contrary. Tlio meeting dccided to obtain a legal opinion on the point, and work was resumed after half an hour s delay.
