WHAT MR. WATT SUGGESTS. By Te.'egraph--Press Association—Oopyri&ht ' London, May 20. After inspection of the docks, tho Lord Mayor of Manchester entertained Messrs. Watt, M'l3ride, and Baillicu (Premier, Minister for Lands, and an honorary Minister of Victoria respectively).
Mr. Walt", responding to the toast "Our Guests," said that if the ports of Western England and Scotland wore prepared to unite vrith the Australian State Governments and inaugurate a new shipping service for tho development of the trade in foodstuffs, ho would take his willing share of the burden. The Manchester authorities lia'd promised to make definite proposals to that end. The party afterwards inspected tho Mersey Docks at Liverpool as tho guests of tiro Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and Harbour Board.
