SENTENCE COMMUTED.
IMPRISONMENT POR LIFE. By Telecrant—Press Association— Coprrltlit (Rec. May 21, 9.30 p.m.) Melbourne, May 21. The sentence of death passed on Walter James Anderson, for the murder of Frederick John Flint, who was poisoned by eating jam containing strychnine, has been commuted. Anderson, who assorted his innocence, will be imprisoned' for life. [Anderson, who is a married man, made love unsuccessfully to a !J>'rl who was keeping company with Flint's mate. Tho latter was camping with Flint. At the first trial of flie charge, the jury disagreed.]
N.S.W. TRAGEDY. Sydney, May 20. The death sentence on the ex-State schoolboy, Lindsay, aged 20 years, for murdering Mrs.- Lloyd, wife of a. farmer, in whoso employ he was, at Copmanhurst, early in January last, has been commuted to one of imprisonment for life.
