FLOOD WATERS RECEDE.
MUCH DAMAGE IN N.S.W. EAILWAY RUNNING RESUMED. By Teleeraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, May 20. The floods in the Hunter River district are receding, though it will be several days before the lower parts of West Naitland are cleared. - Oakhampton suffered the full force of the flood. The restoration of roads, fences, and embankments will involve a big expenditure. In addition to the losses by owners of property through wasliaways, the damage to crops has been heavy.
A public'meeting is to be held at Maitland to deal with the matter of tho sad plight of many of the town people and others in poor circumstances who suffered by the floods.
Railway communication from Newcastle to Maitland has been restored.
