THE HUTT PARK.
A meeting of tho nutt Park Committee was held last evening and was attended by Messrs. Baldwin (chairman), Macaskill, Townscnd, Wright, and Barlow. The Wellington Hockey Association wrote stating that they wero only prepared to use three of the hockey grounds oil tho park at present, as tho others were not lit to play on. On tho motion of Mr. Barlow it was resolved to reply that the committee were doing all in their power to get tho grounds in proper order. The action of tho chairman in granting tlio uso of tho grounds to the Wellington Harriers' Association wa9 approved. Mr. H. Burridgo forwarded a cheque for M-l 3s. Bd. as grazing rent. The Hutt and Petono Councils agroed to forward progress payments to the committee's funds, nnd also agreed to eive the loan of the grass mower, and horse. On tho motion of tho chairman tlie secretary was instructed to writo letters of thanks to each council. It was decided to negotiate with tho Lower Hutt-Council with a viow to purchasing their grass cutter. The Waiwetu Golf Club forwarded a cheque for ,£l2 10s. for ono year's rent of tho links. Messrs. Baldwin, Macaskill, and Barlow tendered their resignation as members of the board. Mr.. Baldwin said that tho park was a groat asset to tho Hutt Valley nnd ho exhorted t'ho new committee to stick to tho park through thick and thin. Mr. Barlow hoped that Mr. Baldwin would rcconsider his decision as ho <Mr. Baldwin) had piloted tho park in bad times and it was a pity that now that tilings wero "looking up" ho should retire. ' A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Messrs. Baldwin, Macaskill, Barlow, and M'Ewan for services as members of tho committee.
