Tho Hon. W. F. Massey (Prima Minister) is at Christchurch, and is cxpected to return to Wellington to-morrow. Tho Hon. R. H'.' Rhodes is at Christchurch, and tho Hon. W. H. Herries readied Christchurch from Greymouth yesterday. Tho Hon. A. 1. Herdmnn is at Auckland j the Hon. W. Fraser was there yesterday; but nmv return to Wellington to-day. Tho llou. 11. D. Ball tho Hon. F. M. B. Fisher, and tho Hon. Dr. Pomaro aro in Wellington. Tlio Hon. James Alien, who arrives in Auckland from London on Juno 3, will, says a Press Association telegram, receive a civic reception on landing. A deputation from tho Political Reform League waited on the Mayor to-day in regard to tho matter, which has been definitely arranged. Members of Parliament at presont visiting Wellington include Mr. D. H. Guthrie (Chief Government AVhip and membor for Oroua) and Mr. G. Sykes, member for Masterton. Messrs. R. Triggs and A. D. Thomson, Assistant-Public fcervico Commissioners, who aro at present in Auckland, nnd intend to. visit other towns in the north, will return to Wellington on Saturday next. Mr. JP. L. Carter, M.A., of Clifton, Englimdi' has arrived in ' New Ztalund to take up a position at Christ's College for n year under the schemo decided upon b.v tho Board of Governors for the interchange of masters with some of tho Homo colleges. Mr. James H. Shekloton, of Sydney, Attorney for tho New South Wales Coal Syndicate of New Zealand, reached Wellington on Wednesday last by the Moeraki and leaves to-day by tho Arahura for Westport. Mr. E. Del Pan, a Manila lawyer, is at present on a visit to Wellington. Tho funeral of tho late Mayor of Hastingsl, Mr. Jame9 Gemett, took place yesterday afternoon, when, according to our own correspondent, practically the wliqlo town turned out to pay their respects to tlio doceased. A funeral service was conducted at tho Wesloyan Church by tlio I!ev. J. T. Wallis, after which tho procession, led by tlio Hastings Town Band, left for the cemetery. Soores of wreaths wore rocoived from various public bodies and private friends. Amongst numerous messages of condolence sent to Mrs. Garnott was ono from tho Prime Minister. Tho business premises in tho town were closed from 2 p.m. till t p.m. Sir Jas. Carroll, who has lately boon confined to a private hospital, is reported to bo now well on tho road to recovery. Mr. W. D. S. Macdonald, member for the Bay of Plenty, arrived in Wellington on Thursday'afternoon. He will attend to somo Departmental business in tho interests of liis constituency, and leavo for the north on Tuesday. Mr. Neil Galbraith, of tho Now Zealand Shipping Co., who recently _ underwent an operation for appendicitis, is now progressing towards recovery. Mr. and Mrs. A. Veitch, of Wellington, left by tho Sydney boat yesterday for Queensland, where they intend to reside during tho winter months.
